New Year’s Tea Cocktails & The Golden Camellia

So what’s your drink of choice on New Year’s? Shots? Mixed drinks? Mocktails? Personally, (surprise, surprise!) I prefer tea cocktails. They aren’t always the easiest to find, but whenever I come across one, I must partake.

If you’re a tea lover like me, then I’m sure you’ll love The Owl’s Brew. This year, thanks to The Owl’s Brew, I’m able to whip up 3 kinds of tea cocktails in a snap. English Breakfast, Darjeeling, Chai…you can create artisanal tea cocktails with almost zero effort. These concentrated teas are specifically crafted for cocktails, fresh-brewed from whole leaves. My method for infusing alcohol with tea involves cold-brewing tea leaves in liquor overnight or even up to a few days. The results are great but the process does require some time. With The Owl’s Brew, tea, sweetener and some natural flavorings combine to create a light syrup. All you need to do is mix and pour–just like that it’s tea cocktail time! This recipe for The Golden Camellia pays homage to our favorite plant, Camellia sinensis (a.k.a. tea!). Made from The Classic, the taste is simple and straight forward, that of English Breakfast, lemon and lime. I decided to throw some edible gold leaf atop the bubbly for a touch of luxury as we head into 2017.If you’re yearning for warmer weather and tropical flavors, New Year’s Chai Nog is for you! The Coco-Lada mixer is a blend of black tea, chai spices, coconut and pineapple flavors. This is a great way to finish off that lingering carton of eggnog in the fridge.Last but not least is the The Darjeeling Sparkler, made with Pink & Black. Darjeeling is often referred to as the champagne of teas, and Prosecco does a wonderful job of highlighting those muscat grape flavors. Garnished with some blackberries and mint, this hibiscus-laced cocktail is wonderfully zippy and refreshing.Follow the suggestion of 2 parts brew to 1 part booze for hard liquor, and for wine or beer use a 1:1 ratio of equal amounts. I give these mixers really high marks for taste. Whether it’s tea time or cocktail time, The Owl’s Brew is ideal for sophisticated entertaining at the drop of a hat (or ball)!A special thanks to The Owl’s Brew for providing the tea cocktail mixers featured in this post.
