Tea of the Week: Paper Source’s You Are So Incredibly Awesome Strawberry Green Tea

I often use Paper Source‘s beautiful papers for tea crafts and even photo backdrops. A few weeks ago I spotted this You Are So Incredibly Awesome Strawberry Green Tea, made for Paper Source by The Republic of Tea, and decided to take some home to try. The colorful tin looked way too enticing to pass up on, and of course I’d never seen a tea with such a flashy name before! This tea is a mix of China green tea, natural strawberry and vanilla flavors, and strawberry bits. The strawberry taste is true to a real strawberry, more acidic and bright than sweet. The soft and fruity aroma is very enticing, and sets the stage for a very yummy tea experience. If you can manage to drop by Paper Source to find this, it’s definitely worth the trip.
Tasting Notes for Paper Source’s You Are So Incredibly Awesome Strawberry Green Tea:

BREWING TIPS:  Steep this at around 160-170 degrees F for 2-3 minutes.

THE TEA:  Small cut Chinese green tea, natural strawberry and vanilla flavors, and strawberry bits.

THE SCENT:  Like a natural version of strawberries & cream oatmeal. Sweet, light, and fruity.

THE STEEP: A soft, sunny yellow. This has a moderately strong green tea base that’s infused with the taste of juicy berries. It’s only slightly astringent. The vanilla flavor isn’t distinct, it just softens the steep so that it tastes mild and rounded. The tea’s grassy notes become more pronounced with longer steeping.

GET IT:  Online at Paper Source or in Paper Source stores while supplies last. They even have a tea towel to match the tea tin design!

FOOD PAIRING:  I made some Japanese Fruit Sando, otherwise known as Fruit Sandwiches to go with these. The fruity flavors of this light tea will pair beautifully with those fluffy, lightly sweet sammies. This tea’s wonderful fragrance and vegetal base would also make it ideal for making tea-based jello desserts. And if you want to go the easy route, serve this delightful tea with a simple bowl of fresh organic strawberries…amazingly delicious!
